Don't Buy the Lie!

Man, Satan was on me last week! I have recently stepped out in faith to do something I have always wanted to do but wasn't sure I could or even should. It is an area that I have very little confidence and for good reason. I've never really put myself out there in this area so there has been little to no opportunity to build confidence.
Circumstances evolved and I thrust myself into this area of extreme doubt and it has been terrifying. I am opening myself up to criticism from both friends and foe but I stepped up to fill a need and to step out in faith. I felt the event went well and many confirmed my suspicions; however, a day later, I gave Satan a way into my thoughts and he wreaked havoc all week! By me doing something I knew I shouldn't, he was able to undo every compliment, every ounce of confidence I was able to build within seconds. I replayed his lies through my head all week which led me into the next week of doing this scary thing...again!
This is when a brother in Christ emphatically said, "Don't buy the lie!" I told him immediately that I was stealing this phrase! How true it is that the Lord puts people in our path to encourage us, lift us up, carry us through and we can so quickly believe the lie that Satan cleverly plants in our thoughts. No one said a negative thing...it was simply my own thoughts, my own doubts!
Remember my last blog pointed to scripture that states Satan's goal: STEAL, KILL, & DESTROY! (John 10:10) He stole my joy from last week's accomplishment and nearly destroyed my ability to step out and do it again. All week the phrases I heard were, "You are in over your head!" "You can't do this!" "What are you thinking?"
It's my fault. I shouldn't have let him in, but I did. He only needs a sliver of our thoughts!
What lie are you currently replaying in your head? What lie are you believing? Is he telling you that you can't? Is he telling you that you aren't good enough? Is it the lie that you aren't pretty enough, smart enough, thin enough, talented enough?
Maybe he's helping you roll the tape of every terrible thing you've done and making you feel that there is no way the Lord can save you! DON'T BUY THE LIE!
I did for a bit but luckily a friend reminded me of the truth! God's truth! If God called you to it, He will definitely see you through it! It doesn't mean it won't be scary. Stepping out in faith can be very scary but it can also be very rewarding! I have lived decades of my life in doubt and fear, afraid to step out. This is no way to live!
The last part of John 10:10 "...I have come that they may have life, and have it to the full."
I sometimes wonder what "fullness" I have missed because I have allowed my thoughts to linger on the lie rather than trust in the truth!
Capture your thoughts! Don't allow Satan to have your mind! This is where most of his work is done...your mind! Resist him and he must flee.
"...and we take captive every thought to make it obedient to Christ." - 2 Corinthians 10:5
"Submit yourselves, then, to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you. Come near to God and He will come near to you." - James 4:7-8
"The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy; I have come that they may have life, and have it to the full." -John 10:10
"May the God of peace, who through the blood of the eternal covenant brought back from the dead our Lord Jesus, that great Shepherd of the sheep, equip you with everthing good for doing His will, and may He work in us what is pleasing to Him, through Jesus Christ, to whom be glory for ever and ever, Amen." -Hebrews 13: 20-21
Until next time...
